The research group has been working towards a research program with different program lines since 2008. Each program line has its own research questions. From 2009 onwards we have been distinguishing seven lines of research.

Quality of e-learning
Is it possible to develop instruments that measure the quality of e-learningmodules, as well as the use of the electronic learning environment and teaching programs by teacher and student; which environmental factors determine this quality; which advice based on these measurements could be given to teachers and school management to improve the quality?

Virtual worlds
Which types of virtual worlds can be distinguished; which didactic targets can be reached with each type; for which target group are they usable; which learning processes can be supported with which type; which IT-functionality is necessary to implement them; which didactic organization is necessary for implementation and production?
Distance learning
Which forms of distance learning with IT can be distinguished; for which didactic goals are these suitable; which didactic approach does distance learning demand from education; which models of educational design are suitable to develop distance education; which organizational conditions are necessary for a successful implementation of IT, regarding the reached goals and profits?
Competence learning
How is competence learning defined and organized in higher and vocational education; which educational programs are used for this; which IT-means are used or which are needed to support the competence learning, especially concerning the assessments?
Educational logistics
Which aspects of educational logistics and educational information can be standardized in order to improve student-, teacher- and educational mobility in the educational system, and which standards can be developed to achieve this.
Demand and Supply Chain Management (DSCM)
Which chainproblems can be detected at this moment in the Dutch educational system; which transfer of information between educational institutions at chainknots is taking place; which IT-solutions are used or missed; what is the need within national and/or regional coöperations for IT-solutions in the field of DSCM; how can be provided in existing needs?
IT-governance in the educational system
Which polical plans are available in the Dutch educational institutions in the field of strategic information policy; which activities do result from this plans; how are these activities managed; how do this activities and management from the activities relate to the operational IT and its management; what are the advantages and disadvantages of the different management models; with which IT-governance problems do educational institutions struggle en how can these be solved?
